Shimadzu LC-10 HPLC System – Complex Modular Configuration (Tested)

The Shimadzu LC-10 is a modular high-performance liquid chromatography system configured for a broad range of analytical and preparative workflows. The offered system includes two high-pressure solvent delivery pumps, a low-pressure solvent selection valve, an online vacuum degasser, an autosampler, a column oven, a photodiode array detector, a fluorescence detector, system controllers, and an automated fraction collector.

The two LC-10AD pumps can be configured for binary high-pressure gradient operation, while the SPD-M10A and RF-10A detectors provide complementary UV/VIS spectral and high-sensitivity fluorescence detection. The FRC-10A fraction collector enables automated collection of the column effluent, allowing the system to support both routine analytical HPLC and workflows involving isolation or subsequent processing of separated fractions.

Included System Modules

• CTO-10AS VP – Column Oven
  Provides a temperature-controlled environment for HPLC columns. Stable column temperature improves retention-time repeatability and supports consistent chromatographic selectivity.
• LC-10AD / LC-10AD VP – High-Pressure Solvent Delivery Pump, 2 units
  Delivers mobile phase accurately with low flow pulsation. Two pumps can be used to create a binary high-pressure gradient and program the mobile-phase composition during an analysis.
• FCV-10AL VP – Low-Pressure Solvent Selection Valve
  Automatically selects or switches between mobile-phase reservoirs upstream of the pump. It expands solvent-handling flexibility and may support low-pressure solvent selection, gradient, or automated rinsing arrangements depending on the plumbing configuration.
• DGU-14A – Online Vacuum Degasser
  Continuously removes dissolved gases from the mobile phases. This reduces bubble formation, pressure fluctuations, and detector baseline instability.
• SIL-10AD – Automatic Sample Injector
  Automates the introduction of liquid samples into the HPLC flow path. It increases sample throughput and improves injection precision and sequence reproducibility.
• SPD-M10A VP – Photodiode Array UV/VIS Detector
  Records absorbance over a range of wavelengths and acquires UV/VIS spectra across chromatographic peaks. It supports quantitative analysis, peak-purity assessment, and compound identification based on spectral information.
• RF-10A XL – Fluorescence Detector
  Provides sensitive and selective detection of naturally fluorescent compounds or analytes converted into fluorescent derivatives. For suitable compounds, fluorescence detection can offer higher sensitivity and selectivity than conventional absorbance detection.
• SCL-10A VP – System Controller
  Coordinates connected LC-10 modules, stores method parameters, and controls the chromatographic sequence. 
• FRC-10A – Automated Fraction Collector
  Directs the column effluent into individual collection vessels according to programmed time, volume, or detector-response criteria. It enables isolation of selected chromatographic fractions for further analysis or processing.
