Features

The Agilent 1260 Infinity Evaporative Light Scattering Detector (ELSD) G4218A is a highly versatile analytical instrument designed for use in high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), micro-HPLC, gel permeation chromatography (GPC), and counter-current chromatography (CCC). This detector employs a universal detection method, capable of identifying non-volatile analytes without dependence on their UV absorption properties. As a result, it is highly effective for compounds that lack chromophores, offering greater flexibility in solvent choice, including UV-absorbing solvents.

The detection process is based on three core principles: nebulization, solvent evaporation, and detection of analyte particles. By converting the eluent into fine mist, evaporating the solvent, and measuring the scattered light using a photomultiplier tube, the ELSD ensures precise and reliable results. Compact, efficient, and intuitive, the G4218A integrates seamlessly into laboratory workflows, providing accurate data essential for critical research and applications.
