We are looking for a Chemistry Operations Manager to join our team and drive operational efficiency while ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and quality standards. If you have a passion for innovation, team development, and process optimisation, we want to hear from you!<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;<br><strong>Hours Per Week:&nbsp;</strong>37<br><strong>Days Per Week:&nbsp;</strong>Monday to Friday<br><strong>Contract:&nbsp;</strong>Full Time and Permanent<br><strong>Location:&nbsp;</strong>Coventry</p><h4><strong>The day to day</strong></h4><ul><li>Ensure the department operates within UK health &amp; safety legislation, fostering a culture of workplace safety.</li><li>Maintain the company’s quality system to provide legally defensible results, ensuring ongoing compliance with internal and external auditing schemes.</li><li>Drive capacity and process improvements to optimise laboratory efficiency.</li><li>Manage departmental direct and indirect costs to meet revenue and profit targets.</li><li>Monitor key client KPI performance, ensuring analysis quality meets client requirements.</li><li>Support Business Development teams with technical expertise.</li><li>Operate compliance with workplace regulations and procedures.</li><li>Develop and maintain the technical capabilities of the department to support client and business needs.</li><li>Deputise for the Site Operations Manager when necessary.</li><li>Conduct Site Inductions on a rotational basis.</li><li>Participate in the Site Duty Manager rota.</li></ul><h4><strong>The Essentials</strong></h4><ul><li>Extensive experience in high-volume production laboratory operations and ISO 17025 quality systems.</li><li>Strong background in MCERTS, 14001, and 45001 accreditation frameworks.</li><li>HND/HNC/Degree or equivalent in a relevant science subject.</li><li>Minimum of 10 years’ management experience in a related field.</li><li>Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.</li><li>Proven ability to influence, motivate, and develop staff.</li><li>Experience in process optimisation, cost reduction, and budget planning.</li><li>Strong analytical skills to evaluate scientific and operational data.</li><li>Strong project management skills.</li><li>Commitment to working towards Chartered status.</li></ul><h4><strong>Working at ALS</strong></h4><p>Our people drive our success at ALS.</p><p>We are a diverse and dedicated community united by our passion to make a difference in the world.
