Shimadzu at HPLC 2025

Conference Short Course
Designing good reversed phase methods: fundamentals and hands-on practicals
- Sunday, 15.06.2025, 09:00
- Location? Coming soon
If you are relatively new to the technique or looking to deepen your knowledge on RP HPLC, then sign up for this short course. Mel Euerby is an outstanding teacher who will deliver the initial theory session in an informal and interactive manner. In the afternoon, the theoretical learning will be followed by a practical part, where participants are given the opportunity to use “state of the art” instrumentation via link to the Shimadzu Laboratory World in Duisburg (Germany) to consolidate what they have learnt in the morning. Don't miss out on this opportunity - our colleagues are looking forward to meeting you there!
- Prof. Melvin R Euerby, Visiting Professor University of Strathclyde and The Open University
- Mel Euerby has recently retired as the Principal of Shimadzu’s Centre of Excellence in Liquid Chromatography where he was responsible for inspiring and training young chromatographers for the future. He currently holds Visiting Professor status at the University of Strathclyde and the Open University and has been lecturing for nearly 40 years! Previously, he held the position of Head of R & D and Training at Hichrom Ltd. Prior to that, he worked for 20 years in the pharmaceutical industry where he had global responsibilities for separation science at Astra Zeneca. In 2007 he was awarded the Jubilee Silver Medal for chromatography by The Chromatographic Society. Mel, until recently, was the Educational Officer for The Chromatographic Society with special responsibilities for “chromatographic up-skilling”. Mel’s current areas of interest still include stationary phase characterizations, supercritical fluid chromatography, analysis of biopharmaceuticals, computerised method development, and fundamental research into retention mechanisms in chromatography.
Vendor Seminar
“Green and Clean: Pioneering Advanced SFC Methods”
- Monday, 16.06.2025, 13:00
- Location? Coming soon
Supercritical Fluid Chromatography (SFC) is gaining attention as a greener, faster, and more efficient alternative to traditional techniques like RP-LC-MS/MS. It offers reduced solvent use, clearer insights into pesticide residues, and expanded sensitivity for certain compounds. With state-of-the-art instruments and new software tools, simplifying method development, SFC is tackling past challenges, opening doors to broader applications in compound separation. Whether for pesticide analysis or peptide studies, SFC is proving to be a reliable and sustainable technique for modern analytical workflows.
