Waters Global Research is looking for an energetic and creative scientist to join the research team at Wilmslow, UK to help bring our bioanalytical science to a new level. This is a unique position that features main duties in the interdisciplinary areas of Biology, Chemistry and Analytical sciences. The Global Research team is looking for an early-mid career individual to help change the way we think about problems, inspire new ideas, and contribute to the next generation of innovations across mass spectrometry, chromatography, chemistry and sample preparation. This current role focuses on conducting bioanalytical work, host cell protein characterization and multiple interdisciplinary research using our most advanced chemistries, mass spectrometers, liquid chromatography instruments and automation in various settings and applications. This position will interact closely with our Research, Development, Chemistries and Applications teams in the United Kingdom and US.

Responsibilities
Conduct research activities for important customer problems within the Global Research Team using state-of-the-art chromatography and mass spec instrumentation; exploring new affinity column technologies, protein profiling, and host cell protein characterization
Collaborate with Chemistries, Development, Applications and Research teams across the company
Implement own research activities within Waters Research
Lead technical project teams in areas of expertise
Execute systematic test measurements with prototypes and available instrumentation
Prepare detailed technical reports, draw conclusions based on strong data analysis, contribute to patent applications, and provide internal and external presentations to summarize scientific findings
Provide technical support, share development ideas, contribute to our global research portfolio and assist in effective research planning
Provide technical support to external collaborators where applicable
Stay up-to-date in scientific literature for specific area of specialization
Establish procedures and work effectively with cross-functional project teams including scientists, biologists, chemists and engineers
Perform other duties in a professional manner as deemed necessary by the organization
Qualifications
Education:
- Ph.D is Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry or related discipline with 3 or more years of experience, M.S. in Chemistry/Biology/Engineering or related discipline with 7 or more years of experience, or B.S. with 10 or more years experience required
Experience:
5 or more years of practical experience in bioanalytical chemistry or related discipline
Experience in basic cell culture based proteomic sample preparation, protein assays, peptide identification and proteomics
Hands-on experience in LC-MS instrumentation use/maintenance, column technologies and sample preparation
Experience in main proteomics informatics pipelines
Experience in LC and/or MS-based proteomics methods preferred
Hands-on experience with multiple immunoassays preferred (ELISA, Western Blot, etc.)
Interest in bioanalytical data analysis
Interest in a broad range of bioanalytical techniques
Competencies:
Experience in leading cross functional, cross departmental projects
Innovative mindset and agility to foster new and diverse ideas
Ability to work independently
Good communication, analysis and decision skills
Well-developed oral and written communication skills in English
Travel (If Applicable):
Some travel for training, workshops and collaboration to HQ in Milford, MA, USA
Some travel to conferences, customers and collaborators
