Principal Scientist, Mass Spectrometry Team Lead

PRINCIPAL SCIENTIST, MASS SPECTROMETRY TEAM LEAD

Just is seeking a motivated and creative Principal Scientist, who desires a significant opportunity to improve worldwide access to biotherapeutics. We are looking for an experienced group leader to join a fast-paced, collaborative, and multidisciplinary team. As functional lead of the Mass Spectrometry group, you will possess deep experience in protein characterization by mass spectrometry in the course of biotherapeutic development. Deep experience with mass spectrometry instrumentation and scientific software is essential. Proven experience in leadership roles is also a must.

Responsibilities:

• Characterize early and late-stage biotherapeutics using mass spectrometry.

• Lead method development for mass spectrometry-based experiments.

• Lead cross-functional teams and initiatives.

• Work with team members on technology development to reduce the cost and improve the efficiency, speed, and data accuracy of mass spectrometry-based methods.

• Present data to a wide range of audiences, including internal technical development teams, clients, and conferences.

• Manage resourcing and workload projection in a fast-paced environment.

• Supervise and mentor scientists.

Requirements:

• Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry or related field and 7+ years industry experience or a Bachelor’s degree and 15+ years industry experience.

• Hands-on experience with TOF and Orbitrap technology.

• Familiarity with mass spectrometry data analysis software platforms (e.g. Xcalibur, BioPharma Finder, Protein Metrics, and Skyline).

• Experience with protein characterization by mass spectrometry in the course of biotherapeutic development.

• Familiarity with mass spectrometry method development.

• Experience leading scientific teams.

• Desire to work in a fast, collaborative, and team-oriented environment.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience with Biosimilar characterization and comparability.

• Strength in data science and informatics.

• Experience with liquid chromatography, including instrument maintenance and method development.

The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be $150,000-170,000; Base salary offered may vary depending on - individual’s skills, experience and competitive market value.
