SENIOR MASS SPECTROMETRY EXPERT - ANALYTICAL CHARACTERISATION
Your key responsibilities
As Senior Mass spectrometry expert, your work will involve analyzing therapeutic proteins, degradation products, and post-translational modifications – and the occasional odd molecule. You will focus more on interpreting results and guide others through the process of handling their own data. However, you'll still be designing and planning experiments with the latest LC-MS instruments. In addition, you will align and communicate results to technical experts outside of our group. Due to your experience, you are able to functionally approve and sanity check the analyses of co-workers You'll also prepare technical documents and reports, participate in function-specific sub-teams, and share your knowledge with your team members. Minimal supervision will be provided, so we're looking for someone who can take charge and fulfill their responsibilities with confidence.
What you’ll bring to the role
Ideally, you have done technical expert studies in Chemistry, Pharmacy, Biology or other natural sciences. Experience in the biopharmaceutical industry or equivalent is a precondition for this position. In all cases, you should bring along profound protein chemistry knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to analytical challenges
We need someone with real-life experience in characterizing proteins, peptides, and glycans using mass spectrometry. You should have made your own hands-on experience with cutting-edge LC-MS technologies, and be familiar with data processing software like Xcalibur, Refiner MS, Chromeleon, PEAKS, Skyline and GPMAW. You should also be able to understand and interpret larger data sets with ease and have the ability to challenge software results through partial de-novo sequencing.
Teaching others and conveying knowledge is natural to you. You will be in a central role to gain, maintain and transfer knowledge. So proactively reaching out to others is among your expected attributes.
Fluency in English (oral and written), knowledge of German is a plus.
Desirable Requirements:
Proficient scientific/technical writing and presentation skills.
Broad knowledge in protein/peptide/glycan separation approaches (i.e. chromatographic, various modes).
Understanding of development activities and processes in Biopharma and knowledge on relevant regulatory guidelines.
Basic programming skills (e.g. R, Phyton) and a general ability to quickly adapt to new data and digital solutions

In accordance with Austrian law, we are obliged to disclose the minimum salary as stated in the collective bargaining agreement. For this position the minimum salary is € 60,212.18/year (on a full time basis).
In most cases, the actual salary will be higher, as we strive to maintain a competitive position in the market and consider your previous experience, qualifications and individual competencies.
