Senior Scientist

Senior Scientist
Restek is seeking a Senior Scientist with a deep expertise in sample preparation and LC-MSMS (Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry/Mass Spectrometry). The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in sample preparation across various areas, including food, pesticides, PFAS, and more. This role involves leading new product development initiatives, developing novel applications, and mentoring fellow scientists. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and contribute to Restek’s growth at both the individual and team level.
Job Duties
Research & Development
- Lead and perform research on new and existing products, technologies, and processes.
- Develop, prototype, and test new products/materials using current analytical methods and instrumentation.
- Ensure product quality and quantity meet production demands.
Documentation & Reporting
- Document experimental steps, procedures, and results.
- Write experience reports detailing experimental design, results, and conclusions.
- Communicate progress through monthly reports and staff meetings.
- Support the creation of new product instructions, specifications, and testing parameters.
Product Transfer & Support
- Support the transfer of new products to manufacturing.
- Monitor product performance and validate processes, quality, documentation, and training.
Publications & Presentations
- Prepare articles and publishable data for marketing and technical services.
- Conduct seminars, advanced technical presentations, and support training activities.
Collaboration & Continuous Learning
- Collaborate cross-functionally as a scientific expert.
- Engage in continuous learning to stay current with industry advancements and enhance knowledge.
Safety & Compliance
- Adhere to safe working procedures and environmental health and safety guidelines.
- Follow Restek’s core values and practice safe handling of materials.
Qualifications
Education
Minimally requires a bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related science plus 10 years of experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Extensive experience with sample preparation and LC-MSMS is preferred as well as a proven track record in product development and cross-functional collaboration.

- Competent understanding of chromatography and core principles.
- Ability to interact with customers at a high level of expertise.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of chemical safety, composition, structure, and properties.
