At Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., we have an exceptional opportunity for a Scientist III, specializing in Cell Biology. Join our world-class R&D team in Los Angeles and make a significant impact in the field of Cell Biology. As a Scientist III, you will play a crucial role in characterizing reference samples, leading innovative research, and developing novel products.
What will you do
- Characterize a human serum database for specificities to HLA using Labscreen and similar products.
- Independently lead projects, including planning and conducting scientific experiments, ensuring flawless implementation
- Analyze results, prepare comprehensive summary reports, and confidently present the findings to the group and other team members.
- Use our advanced molecular typing products, such as FastPlex (NGS)
- Successfully balance multiple projects while also training and mentoring junior team members.
- Collaborate efficiently with different departments within the company to ensure accurate data and presentations.
- Build strong relationships with key opinion leaders in the field, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange.
- Work together with cross-disciplinary teams to meet project goals and timelines.
- Review and author scientific protocols, SOPs, batch records, and summary reports, ensuring strict adherence to quality standards.
- Maintain detailed records of experiments, procedures, and reports, ensuring transparency and accuracy.
- Lead Practical Process Improvement (PPI) initiatives to continuously enhance efficiency and productivity.
Keys to Success
Education
- B.S. with 6 years of experience, Masters with 4 yrs. of experience, or Ph.D. in Biological Chemistry, Immunology, Cell Biology, or related field.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Prior experience in a HLA lab is highly preferred, demonstrating your proven expertise in the field.
- Proficiency in Labscreen assay, protein kinetics, protein purification, HPLC, protein expression, and molecular cloning is highly desirable.
- In-depth knowledge of statistical analysis methodologies and software (JMP, Prism, or similar tools) to meticulously analyze data.
- Strong understanding of a wide breadth of laboratory techniques, including mammalian cell culture, flow cytometry, ELISA, Western blot, BCA, and molecular cloning.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to foster collaboration and effectively convey scientific concepts.
- Outstanding problem-solving skills to tackle complex scientific challenges.
- Proficient in MS Office applications such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint to support your research and reporting.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $91,700.00–$137,525.00.
