We are seeking a Senior QC Microbiologist to provide technical and analytical support to our Quality Control function.
This is what you will do:
This position will play a key role in Alexion’s Viral Vector Product Development analytical development team, interacting with internal teams within the Genomic Medicine and Product Development Clinical Supply groups. The research associate will follow established standard operating procedures (SOPs) to perform molecular and biochemical based assays to characterize recombinant adeno-associated viral (rAAV) vectors and other gene editing modalities to support process development and testing of pre-clinical grade research products.
Accountabilities:
As a Senior QC Microbiologist, you will conduct activities and interactions consistent with AstraZeneca's values and in compliance with the Code of Conduct. You will ensure that systems and processes owned by the team are effectively managed and maintained. Your role will involve training others, participating in laboratory or process deviations, ensuring regulatory compliance, and serving as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in various topics. You will also act as a Lean champion, implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential Skills/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in a related subject (e.g., Biology)
- 2+ years’ experience in a GMP QC Micro lab
- Demonstrated capability in aseptic sampling and testing
- High level of knowledge and competence with a specific piece of laboratory equipment, or a Quality process or system
Desirable Skills/Experience:
- 4+ years QC microbiology experience
- Experience in aseptic manufacturing and biologics
- Demonstrated project leadership capabilities
- Post-graduate degree such as Masters or PhD in a Science subject
