Maintenance Technician

The Church Stretton Manufacturing Site is located in the Shropshire hills area of outstanding natural beauty (AONB). It is approximately 15 miles South of Shrewsbury close to the border with Mid Wales. It is a part of Agilent`s Chemistries Manufacturing within the Order Fulfilment and Supply Chain Organisation. The site manufactures products such as Liquid Chromatography Columns and Supplies as well as Clinical and Diagnostic Products for the Life Sciences Area.

We are looking for a Maintenance Technician who will work within a small, enthusiastic, multi-skilled team of engineers responsible for the day-to-day engineering, maintenance and new equipment/process installation for the site. This is temporary position – initially for a one-year period with the option of extension - and based at our beautiful site in Church Stretton.

About the Role

• Your responsibilities involve the general repair, maintenance, and performance testing of a wide range of laboratory and process equipment.
• Ensure that the equipment is both safe to use and reliable so that our production team can effectively manufacture and supply the critical products our customers require to improve the quality of life.
• Assist the other engineers with both routine and reactive maintenance on both large- and small-scale process equipment
• This is a great opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience and learn a variety of new skills working in growing, fast-paced, high-throughput LEAN manufacturing facility.

Qualifications

• Ideally you possess a university degree in chemistry, biology or a related field, but we are also open for someone with no degree but several years of work experience
• Proficient hands-on work experience with LC equipment either in a similar position or in the lab
• Digital skills on databases or automated systems, e.g, RasperryPi, is a plus
• Ability to plan and optimise their own workload
• Ability and willingness to handle chemicals in a safe, controlled manner
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions, equipment manuals, and safety procedures
• Actively participate in our Continuous Improvement program
• Document maintenance activity within the maintenance database

You are a self-starter, accountable for your activities and manage a varied workload of both preventative and reactive maintenance activities with attention to detail.
