R&D Mechanical Engineer

R&D mechanical engineer plays a critical role in new product development project and be part of high-performance project team to design and develop state of art and high-quality analytical instrument solutions to help customer conduct required applications and achieve satisfactory chemical analysis results.

In this role, a mechanical engineer will apply knowledge of physics, mechanics and, probably including electronics to design, develop and prove new instrument functionality and performance that will meet customer’s emerging requirement by enhancing analysis sensitivity, analysis efficiency, and simplicity of usage. Mechanical engineer will also work with project team to ensure the final product meets all regulations and reliability requirements as well as the features that matter to customers.

Principal duties and responsibilities:

  • Design and develop chemical analytical instrument of new technologies and functionality that fits customer application.
  • Perform theoretical research and development on techniques of instruments (mainly around gas chromatograph).
  • Create mechanical structures to first prove the feasibility, and finally the practicality of the approach being followed to meet the design goals.  Produce all documentation required for its fabrication by the manufacturing groups.
  • Carry out analysis and evaluations of successive version of hardware design/concepts to ensure that fundamentals are fully understood, basic problems are solved and that the design is sufficiently robust to avoid future problems due to expected variations in component / environmental parameters.
  • Assists in integration, evaluation, modification of overall instrument / system. Provide tested functional hardware for same.
  • Ensures that all documentations are accomplished and in proper form including any important component specifications.
  • Work with manufacturing team to bring new products into production and provide technical supports to maintain production.

Qualifications

MUST:

  • Master’s degree or above in mechanics or mechatronics or related scientific discipline.
  • Familiar with CAE and CAD SW to facilitate research and design, like NX, Solidworks, Ansys, COMSOL, etc.
  • Strong design experience in combination of theoretical modeling and practical design experience.
  • Strong verbal and written English and Chinese communication skills.
  • Strong capability in technical documentation and presentation.
  • Demonstrate flexibility, creativity and initiative to perform successfully in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Demonstrate open minded and quick learning capability and growth mindset.
  • Demonstrate good interpersonal skill and planning capability to achieve result.
  • Ability to communicate needs, plans and achievements at all levels of a corporate organization.
  • Demonstrate skill of design of experiment, skill of data acquisition and measurement with industrial device and sensor, skill of data analysis and processing, skill of programming on measurement device, and skill of analytical problem solving.

WANT:

  • Instrumental product development experience and skill in mechanical part fabrication process.
  • Demonstrate good design capability in electromechanical device, control system and theory.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge and experience in structure design, machining parts and process, and motion design and control.
  • Strong design for manufacturability experience with successful new product introduction experience from the prototype to production.
  • Experience in product reliability design and analysis.
  • Experience in design for EMC
  • Experience in design fulfilling safety requirement/regulations

This job has a full time weekly schedule.
