Job Description

How Will You Make an Impact?

The Scientist I, Molecular Biology will have responsibility in supporting scientific activities in the development of internal new product introductions (NPI). Housed within Thermo Fisher Scientific Singapore R&D, the successful candidate will provide technical support on a project level and will be encouraged to integrate into a dynamic and multidisciplinary team. The successful applicant is required to exhibit positive demeanour with the ability to excel in the fast-paced environment of biotechnology. As part of the product development team, the candidate will possess the technical proficiency and integrity in execution of activities and deliver meticulous quality results in order to meet project timelines and alignment with the business needs.

What will you do?

  • Development of qPCR/ digital PCR assays/ sequencing/ sample preparation for new product introduction
  • Complete experiments independently and analyze data set under mentorship of senior group members and keep a detailed record of experiments.
  • Write procedures, protocols and reports.
  • Exercise independent judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
  • Recommend and implement changes to processes, procedures or products internally to the department.
  • May train and guide interns
  • Adhere to internal policies and procedures, as well as external quality standards.

How will you get here?

  • Required - Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or similar
  • Experience with molecular assays would be a plus
  • Familiarity with ISO13485 would be an added benefit.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Good practical knowledge of molecular biology techniques.
  • Possess good laboratory and documentation practices.
  • Driven to deliver quality results on time and in a highly ethical and professional manner
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness, self-motivation, systematic and analytical thinking, directed toward achieving objectives.
