Join our collaborative Antibody Development team at Thermo Fisher Scientific, where you'll contribute to advancing protein and antibody engineering technologies. As a Scientist II in Protein Biology, you'll be part of our team focused on designing, developing, and validating high-quality antibodies using advanced tools and methodologies. You'll contribute to research that enables our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer.

In this role, you'll plan and execute experiments independently, driving product development from concept through validation. You'll utilize advanced protein characterization techniques while collaborating across teams to optimize workflows and improve product quality. The position offers opportunities to support junior scientists, present research findings, and contribute to scientific innovation in a supportive environment dedicated to excellence.

Requirements

  • Masters degree with over 5 years relevant experience or PhD with greater than 2 years’ experience in a life sciences field
  • Preferred Fields of Study: molecular biology, immunology, biotechnology, biochemistry, structural biology, protein design, or protein engineering

Nature of experience:

  • Extensive experience with antibody development across hybridoma, single B cell, and other recombinant antibody platforms
  • Broad knowledge and experience in molecular biology, cell biology, immunoassays, protein design, engineering, purification, and conjugation fields to enable successful delivery on program goals
  • Familiarity with antibody or protein design, biophysical characterization, and molecular biology using state of the art methodologies such as SPR and BLI
  • Expertise in antibody characterization methods including affinity measurements and epitope binning
  • Experience with protein expression, protein purification, and protein-protein interaction, protein structure -function relationships, and immunogen designs
  • Expertise in development of conjugation chemistries or performing antibody conjugations is desired
  • Proficient in molecular biology workflows such as high-throughput molecular cloning, plasmid vector construction, PCRs, Restriction digestion, Ligation, Transformation, Mini and maxi preps, sequencing
  • Thorough in biochemical and immunoassay workflows such as ELISA, SDS-PAGE, Western blotting, IF, IHC
  • Ability to provide technical trouble shooting to resolve scientific problems.
  • Proficient in software or platforms for molecular biology and sequence analysis, MS Office and statistical software such as GraphPad Prism.
  • Authorship of peer-reviewed publications and a strong, independent understanding of standard and emerging research protocols and techniques are preferred. GLP experience is a must.
