Media Laboratory Technician

The Role

ALS Laboratories have two exciting opportunities for you to join our friendly team in Chatteris. This is a fantastic chance to work in a modern food laboratory where your work directly supports food safety and quality.

In this varied role, you’ll test a wide range of food products and ingredients using different analytical techniques, while also lending a hand to our sample receipt team when needed. We’re looking for someone with a keen eye for detail who enjoys following clear processes and takes pride in delivering accurate, reliable results.

About the Positions (Fixed Term Contracts)

We are recruiting two 12-month fixed term contract roles:

1) Full Time Laboratory Technician (12-month FTC)

• Hours/Shift: Monday to Friday, 10:30am to 7pm
• Salary: £25,834 per annum
• Contract: Full time, fixed term (12 months)

2) Part Time Media Laboratory Technician (12-month FTC)

• Hours/Shift: Monday to Friday, 9am to 3pm
• Salary: £16,146 per annum
• Contract: Part time, fixed term (12 months)

The Day to Day

• Play a key role in ensuring the safety and quality of food by carrying out laboratory testing using approved methods.
• Contribute to a smooth and efficient lab environment supporting consistent results.
• Help maintain high standards by completing daily quality checks and calibrating equipment with care and attention.
• Take pride in keeping your workspace clean, organised, and safe for everyone.
• Support a positive safety culture by following Quality Management and Health & Safety practices at all times.
• Keep clear and accurate records so results are reliable, traceable, and ready to support team decisions.

The Essentials

• Previous experience working in a fast-paced environment.
• Meticulous attention to detail, especially in reading, understanding and carrying out instructions.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Good IT skills.
• Excellent time management skills.
• Methodical approach.
