DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a Field Applications Scientist with expertise in Cryo DualBeam (FIB-SEM) and Life Sciences applications to support advanced electron microscopy workflows.

In this role, you will collaborate with sales teams and customers to deliver technical demonstrations, application support, and training focused on cryo-FIB-SEM, 3D volume imaging, and sample preparation techniques. You will serve as a scientific advisor, helping customers optimize their workflows and maximize the value of their systems.

Working in a highly hands-on environment, you will support customer demonstrations, sample processing, CWATs, and application training, while collaborating with cross-functional teams including sales, service, R&D, and product management. You will also contribute to application development and continuous improvement of cryo workflows to support innovation and business growth.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Advanced Degree (MSc or PhD) plus experience, or Bachelor’s Degree with significant hands-on experience in a relevant field
  • Background in Life Sciences (e.g., cell biology, structural biology, molecular biology, or related discipline)
  • Hands-on experience with electron microscopy, ideally DualBeam (FIB-SEM / SDB) systems
  • Experience with cryo workflows and sample preparation (e.g., vitrification; cryo-lift-out is a plus)
  • Familiarity with 3D volume imaging / volume EM workflows

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

  • Strong technical problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex workflows
  • Ability to communicate scientific concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience delivering customer-facing demonstrations and training
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a dynamic environment
  • Collaborative mindset with ability to work across cross-functional and multicultural teams

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Willingness to travel internationally (up to 25–50%)
  • Fluent in English; additional European languages are beneficial
  • Valid passport required for international travel

WHY JOIN US
