Team Lead – Analytical Chemistry & Formulations
Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced scientist to serve as a Team Lead in Analytical Chemistry & Formulations within our RNA-LNP Formulations group. In this role, you will combine hands-on laboratory expertise in analytical chemistry with leadership responsibilities supporting a team of scientists working on lipid nanoparticle (LNP) and RNA-based formulations.
You will play a key role in driving experimental execution, ensuring high-quality analytical output, and fostering a collaborative, high-performance team environment.
Key Responsibilities
Analytical Chemistry & Formulation Support
- Perform and support analytical testing of RNA-lipid nanoparticles using techniques such as HPLC, Solo-VPE, MFI, AKTA, DLS, HIAC, and viscosity measurements
- Assist with formulation and characterization of RNA-LNP systems, proteins, and buffer preparations as needed
- Execute experiments in accordance with established protocols, SOPs, and GLP standards
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation using electronic lab notebooks
- Support laboratory organization, safety compliance, and operational readiness
Leadership & Team Support
- Provide day-to-day guidance and performance oversight for a team of scientists
- Support onboarding, training, and development of new team members
- Participate in recruitment and interview processes as needed
- Foster a positive, collaborative team culture focused on quality and continuous improvement
- Ensure appropriate workload distribution, shift coverage, and operational efficiency
- Communicate administrative updates and align team activities with organizational goals
- Promote adherence to company vision, safety standards, and regulatory compliance
- Balance hands-on technical contributions with leadership responsibilities
Qualifications
Required
- B.S. in Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, or related field with 3–4 years of relevant experience, or
- M.S. with 1–2 years of relevant experience
- Hands-on experience in RNA-LNP, siRNA, mRNA, or related genetic modalities
- Strong proficiency in chromatography and separation techniques, including HPLC
- Experience in analytical or formulation development within a laboratory setting
- Demonstrated leadership or mentoring experience in a scientific environment
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to design experiments, interpret data, and maintain high-quality documentation
- Comfortable working independently and within a matrixed team environment
Preferred
- Experience with in vitro or cellular assays
- Exposure to biologics such as peptides or monoclonal antibodies
- Prior direct people management experience
- Authorization to work in the U.S. without restriction or sponsorship
