Job Summary
- Coverage: Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry (CMD) – LC-MS, GC-MS (with HPLC/LCMS support as required)
- Location: Gyeongsang region (Busan, Ulsan, Daegu and surrounding areas)
- Office: Busan or Daegu Regional Office
- Type: Field-based role (over 80% customer site visits)
- Customers: Government laboratories, national research institutes, universities, and industrial customers
DESCRIPTION:
Join our team at Thermo Fisher Scientific and contribute to critical scientific research and innovation. As a Field Service Engineer III, you will provide expert installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, qualification, and technical support for HPLC, LC-MS, GC and GC-MS systems. Working with cutting-edge analytical instrumentation, you will support customers across pharmaceutical, biotechnology, environmental, food safety, academic, and industrial laboratories.
In this role, you will perform instrument installation and commissioning, preventive maintenance, hardware and software troubleshooting, repairs, and system qualification (IQ/OQ). You will collaborate closely with customers to maximize instrument performance and uptime while delivering outstanding technical support and customer satisfaction. You will also provide user training, technical guidance, and application-related support to help customers achieve their analytical objectives. REQUIREMENTS:
- Advanced Degree plus 3 years of field service experience, or Bachelor's Degree plus 5 years of experience installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and qualifying analytical instruments
- Preferred Fields of Study: Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related technical field
- Hands-on experience servicing HPLC/UHPLC, LC-MS, GC-MS, or other analytical instrumentation is highly preferred
- Strong understanding of chromatography, mass spectrometry, electronics, and instrument control software
- Experience performing instrument installation, preventive maintenance, repair, calibration, and IQ/OQ qualification
- Ability to diagnose and resolve complex hardware, software, and application-related issues independently
- Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to build long-term customer relationships
- Professional working proficiency in English; additional languages are an advantage
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, service manuals, electrical schematics, and engineering drawings
- Proficiency with Windows operating systems, networking, and standard business software
- Willingness to travel 25–50% to customer sites and possess a valid driver's license
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg) and work safely in laboratory environments
