We are the North American division of world-renown Metrohm AG (Herisau, Switzerland), an industry leader in laboratory instruments and accessories for analytical testing/research. We are looking for a Business Development Manager to join our team. This is a remote, field-based position that provides nationwide support. The ideal candidate will reside within a commutable distance to an airport in one of these metropolitan areas: Houston, Philadelphia/Baltimore/DC, Chicago/Minneapolis.

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER (ANALYTICAL INSTRUMENTATION)

The Business Development (BD) Manager is a strategic role that will create long term value from our customers, markets, and relationships. This position is responsible for driving Metrohm technology adoption to accelerate growth in target markets. The BD Manager participates as a member of the Sales team, providing strategic direction and tactical execution to rapidly expand the Metrohm USA (MUSA) footprint in target markets.

Job Description:

As the Business Development Manager, you will:

  • Identify and pursue opportunities for business growth and expansion. This may involve but is not limited to researching market trends, cultivating relationships with potential and existing clients, actively participating in norms and standards development organizations aligned with company key market segments and emerging markets, development of sales strategy and plans in coordination with key company stakeholders.

  • Coordinate with the Sales and Marketing teams to develop plans, strategies, and their execution to deliver sales and market growth.

  • Capture new business in alignment with MUSA’s technical expertise and strategic roadmap. This includes tracking and planning target market relationships, managing customer relationships, visiting key actual and potential customers on a regular basis, understanding customer technical and functional requirements, and translating product requirements to the Sales and Product teams.

  • Develop and execute a business plan to grow Metrohm business across all technologies and target market segments, while working with the Marketing team to coordinate campaigns and develop brand awareness.

  • Attend industry meetings to gather the voice of customer (VOC) and market information representing the company and its business interests for the purpose of gathering market intelligence to develop plans and strategies to grow sales.

  • Foster growth of company business interests and relationships with key opinion leaders and stakeholders in targeted markets. Must be comfortable speaking to groups of customers and industry professionals to promote the company’s products and interests at meetings and trade shows.

  • Develop key accounts, OEM opportunities and strategic partnerships/alliances to promote MUSA sales. Implement training opportunities to develop Metrohm’s understanding and utilization of sales channels, product positioning and market trends, to build and maintain opportunities that support the annual revenue target for Metrohm business.

  • Act as liaison and technical expert to distributors and manufacturer representatives to provide technical and sales and marketing information to be used for problem solving and development of sales activity.

  • Identify, develop, and execute pipeline of opportunities and engagements to achieve key sales targets and metrics. Document and track in CRM timely.

  • Coordinate development and drafting of industry analytical test methods, guides, practices and updates for norms and standards organizations such as ASTM, USP, etc.

  • Travel as required.

Qualified candidates will possess:

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, or related field, and six to ten years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; strong public speaking skills.

  • Demonstrated skills in sales management and knowledge of CRM software.

  • Excellent negotiation skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Valid, current driver’s license.
