Research Scientist (Bioinformatics)

In the Global Bioinformatics team at Evotec more than 100 scientists with diverse backgrounds in biology, computer science, mathematics, and biomedicine work on the analysis and interpretation of omics data. Together with our colleagues in the wetlabs we develop and continuously improve our high throughput and high precision omics platforms. In drug discovery projects we work together with scientist from multiple other disciplines in a global organization of more than 5.000 employees across 15 sites. Our tasks include omics data handling and qc, method and software development, and the biological interpretation of analysis results. Our goal is to enable better decisions for medicines that matter.

To support our Bioinformatics team we are looking for a highly motivated:

RESEARCH SCIENTIST (ALL GENDERS) - BIOINFORMATICS

You will work on a large scale data sets produced by state-of-the-art mass-spectrometry instruments as well as other genomics technologies. The candidate will be part of a diverse team with the experts on computer science, bioinformatics, bio-statistics and computational chemistry.

Your key responsibilities:

• Analyze large-scale proteomics data sets acquired by LC-MS/MS data.

• Develop and maintain proteomics data analysis pipeline/tools.

• Work in close collaboration with interdisciplinary teams within the company in exiting projects related to drug discovery.

• Communicate complex bioinformatics methods and results to your colleagues from diverse backgrounds as well as to clients.

• Work with researchers in interdisciplinary project teams to explain analysis results of your analysis and guide further analyses.

Your ideal qualifications:

• Ph.D. or Master’s degree with 1/2 years of experience in a highly quantitative field including but not limited to Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Biomedical Engineering or Computational Physics.

• Ph.D. applicants should have an excellent research experience and be highly motivated to deploy diverse strategies to extract novel findings of importance.

• Experience with downstream analysis of high-throughput OMICS technologies such (bulk RNAseq, scRNAseq, spatial transcriptomics, proteomics.

• Excellent programming skills, fluency in Python or R programming languages (preferably R) as well as sound knowledge of statistical data analysis.

• Experience with R shiny.

• Knowledge of Linux/Windows operations from command line and experience with high-performance computing environments would be a plus.

• Experience integrating different types of omics data/biomedical data.

• Good communication skills in English, both oral and written.
