Product Evaluation Scientist (MS, LC-MS)

Job Description:

• The Product Evaluation (PE) Scientist will be a part of the Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry Research Center.

• The incumbent will be responsible for instrument control software and application software verification and validation of existing and newly developed products in support of Product Development groups, particularly focused on Mass Spectrometry (MS) as well as LCMS and ICMS applications.

• You will be tasked to evaluate and test software products during the late Product Development stage through post-production to verify that they function according to specifications and standards. In this role, you will apply your MS, LCMS and Analytical Chemistry experience in both implementing established test protocols and in collaborating with Development Scientists and Engineers across sites to test brand-new chromatography and mass spectrometry software products.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Participate in all phases of the product development from product definition to final release.

• Work closely with multiple teams to ensure successful integration of platform and product S/W packages across a variety of environments and topologies.

• Coordinate and perform end-to-end testing of Chromatography, Mass Spectrometry and LC-MS software solutions

• Act as the quality gatekeeper for large scale S/W programs involving multiple integrated components delivered from globally distributed development teams.

• Communicate project status and issues to other functional teams, collaborators, and management.

• Facilitate in the removal of roadblocks as they arise to ensure team efficiency.

• Generate clear documentation for project documents and status reports.

• Write and complete test cases for integration, compatibility, and solution.

• Participate in project planning and progress tracking.

• Contribute to the timely delivery of the CMD software projects within budget.

• Hands-on setup of Ion Sources and Source Apparatuses (Nano Spray, HESI, FAIMS) for Orbitrap Tribrid or Orbitrap Hybrid, and/or Triple Quadrupole Mass Spectrometers. Includes other functional activities such as calibration of mass spectrometers; sample, solvent, and stationary phase prep for acquisition workflows involving HPLCs and nano-LCs.

• Limited lab and equipment maintenance duties and duties as assigned.

Education & Requirements:

• BS/MS or PhD degree in Natural sciences or Engineering.

• Minimum of 5+ years of laboratory experience using analytical instrumentation (LC, MS and/or LCMS). Hands-on experience on one or more separation techniques: HPLC, nLC, uLC, IC.

• Solid understanding of LC and MS instrumentation. Technical attitude, willing to understand the operation principals of liquid chromatography systems including autosamplers, pumps, detectors, and separation techniques.

• Understanding and ability to apply statistical mathematics.

• Ability to test and investigate and tackle problems involving multiple component software packages across a wide variety of potential customer environments and topologies.

Preferred:

Familiarity with Quality System Regulation and FDA expectations for software and hardware validation is a plus.

• Experience with automation testing and tools.

Compensation and Benefits

• The salary range estimated for this position based in Lithuania is €30,000.00–€45,000.00.
