SAMPLE PREPARATION SUPERVISOR
The Minerals Laboratory at Mount Isa is seeking a Full Time Sample Preparation Supervisor for the Sample Preparation shifts.
The day to day
Mount Isa is the administrative, commercial and industrial centre for Queensland’s vast north-western region, with an estimated urban population of 22,000. Mount Isa Laboratory services numerous mines and explorers in this region.
The Minerals Laboratory at Mount Isa is seeking a Full Time Sample Preparation Supervisor for the Sample Preparation shifts. Relocation to Mount Isa will be considered.
The role involves but is not limited to the following tasks:
Supervise Sample Prep staff.
Manage staff issues including morale and performance management.
Monitor, inspect and review work to ensure deadlines are met and quality standards are achieved.
Regularly liaise with shift supervisors and management.
Maintain acceptable TAT.
Minimise breakages and wastage.
Training and technical development of section staff.
Optimising shift hours within the sample prep section.
Ensure quality of section is maintained.
The Essentials
- This is a challenging position in which a high degree of organisational skills, time management skills and attention to detail are essential. Your ability to manage staff and deal quickly, efficiently and fairly with issues in a high volume and dynamic environment will ensure your success in this role.
To be successful you will have or be able to demonstrate:
Experience in a sample preparation section.
An exceptional work ethic.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Computer literate.
Good time management and organisational abilities.
An understanding of ALS QC principles.
