SAMPLE PREPARATION SUPERVISOR

The Minerals Laboratory at Mount Isa is seeking a Full Time Sample Preparation Supervisor for the Sample Preparation shifts.

The day to day

  • Mount Isa is the administrative, commercial and industrial centre for Queensland’s vast north-western region, with an estimated urban population of 22,000. Mount Isa Laboratory services numerous mines and explorers in this region.

  • The Minerals Laboratory at Mount Isa is seeking a Full Time Sample Preparation Supervisor for the Sample Preparation shifts. Relocation to Mount Isa will be considered.

The role involves but is not limited to the following tasks:

  • Supervise Sample Prep staff.

  • Manage staff issues including morale and performance management.

  • Monitor, inspect and review work to ensure deadlines are met and quality standards are achieved.

  • Regularly liaise with shift supervisors and management.

  • Maintain acceptable TAT.

  • Minimise breakages and wastage.

  • Training and technical development of section staff.

  • Optimising shift hours within the sample prep section.

  • Ensure quality of section is maintained.

The Essentials

  • This is a challenging position in which a high degree of organisational skills, time management skills and attention to detail are essential. Your ability to manage staff and deal quickly, efficiently and fairly with issues in a high volume and dynamic environment will ensure your success in this role.

To be successful you will have or be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience in a sample preparation section.

  • An exceptional work ethic.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Computer literate.

  • Good time management and organisational abilities.

  • An understanding of ALS QC principles.
