SCIENTIST 1 INTERN, TECHNICAL OPERATIONS

Job Description

Position Summary:

  • The individual will work as a member of Technical Operations team on productivity improvement and manufacturing troubleshooting projects assisting with design and execution of experiments.

  • Projects will be focused on improving quality, minimizing processing steps, increasing yield, and/or reducing hazards for manufacturing processes related to organic synthesis, biochemistry, and reagent formulations.

  • The individual will learn practical application of statistical methods for experimental design and data analysis.

  • Qualified candidates should be pursuing a degree in chemistry, biochemistry, biology, or related discipline and demonstrate excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform laboratory experiments required for testing and validating processes (i.e., liquid chromatography, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), mass spectrometry, ELISA, Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), UV/Visible spectrophotometry, etc.).

  • Write or edit product related documents (i.e., specification sheets, manufacturing batch records).

  • Effective time management to complete assigned project deliverables.

  • Properly documenting experiments, materials used, and results.

  • Execute experimental plans under guidance of Technical Operation scientists.

  • Present overview of project and results to project team members and stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in a B.S. program with 2+ years in Molecular Biology, Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Material Science, or equivalent.

  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Experience with basic laboratory skills (pipetting, analytical balance usage, buffer preparation).

  • Ability to lift up-to 20 pounds.
