Structural Characterization of Biopolymers by GPC/SEC Coupled to Special Detectors (ELSD, Viscometer, Light Scattering)

Innovative solutions using biopolymer-based materials seem to be particularly attractive for different applications, specially within the biomedical and pharmaceutical industries. Novel polymeric materials are designed to meet very specific requirements defined by the application and, therefore, can be highly complex multicomponent materials.
GPC/SEC (Gel Permeation Chromatography/Size Exclusion Chromatography) is a dependable way of studying Molecular Weight information of biodegradable polymers, a critical parameter to elucidate their physicochemical properties. This webinar explores a basic introduction regarding biopolymers and a detailed discussion on characterization techniques via GPC/SEC, as well as the potential of adding advanced detection technologies such as Light Scattering and differential Viscometry for structural analysis, along with traditional detectors such as refractive index, UV-Vis and Evaporative Light Scattering (ELSD) for increased sensitivity. GPC/SEC applications of biopolymers in various fields will also be reviewed.
