New Food: FOOD SAFETY LIVE 2021

Why attend?

This new virtual event places some of the food and drink sector’s current major challenges in the spotlight. By assessing and debating some of the industry’s most challenging topics – including pesticides, sugar analysis and mycotoxins – we aim to shed light on the things we may not want to know, but certainly should. Only through tackling issues head on can we hope to solve our most pressing problems, so join us for a day of exploration and problem solving.

Agenda

Welcome from New Food and opening keynote address : What we don’t want to know about our food

  • Discover the biggest food safety challenges
  • Understand what will happen if we don’t take bold action
  • Hear why we focused on these three topics and what you can expect to learn from the day

Presenter: Uwe Oppermann (Manager, Shimadzu Europa)

Presenter: Amadeo Rodríguez Fernández-Alba (European Union Reference Laboratory for Pesticide Residues in Fruit & VegetablesDepartment of Agronomy, University of Almería)

Panel Discussion: Topic: Is your pesticide testing fit-for-purpose?

  • Understand the challenge of pesticide residues and the importance of MRLs
  • From MRLs to acute reference dosages – what’s the difference and why does it matter?
  • Assessing the experience of a lab’s expertise in testing different matrices (sample type) and finding the right testing lab for you
  • Creating harmony in the sector – a global vs regional approach
  • Complementary testing – what else should I be looking for (eg, heavy metals)?
