Following the successful launch of the SELECT SERIES MRT, we invite you to join us for an overview of the latest high resolution mass spectrometry technology.

There is an increasing need for greater understanding of the behaviour of drug molecules earlier in the drug discovery/development process. In response to this need, imaging techniques are developing to provide improved and invaluable information on target engagement, and downstream impact.

Mass spectrometry imaging (MSI) is particularly useful in both biomarker and drug distribution studies. MSI has developed with the improvement of ionisation sources and the mass analysers they are coupled to.

Key Learning Objectives:

  • Find out how MS Imaging is utilised in understanding the behaviour and distribution of both biomarkers and drug molecules
  • Discover how increasing specificity enhances drug discovery studies using the superior mass accuracy and resolution of the SELECT SERIES MRT increases specificity
  • Learn about the advancements in imaging techniques, including DESI XS to improve the quality of images and information

Who Should Attend:

  • Everyone with a passion for imaging mass spectrometry, especially scientists seeking the latest advances to accelerate their research, with focus on Pharma discovery
  • Industrial scientists in Pharma and academics

Presenter: Dr Philippa J. Hart (Lead Scientist - Mass Spectrometry, Medicines Discovery Catapult)

Philippa’s interest in MS imaging began during her PhD studies with the application of MALDI in the group of Prof. Malcolm Clench. Philippa has over 12 years experience in the field gained in both academia and industry, including roles at both Shimadzu and Waters. During this time she gained experience in clinical applications of MALDI MS and expanded her knowledge of MSI to the application of DESI. At MDC Philippa is driving and leveraging the use of MS surface analysis in drug discovery. Her main focus is to apply MSI in combination with other analytical techniques, to help MDC clients and collaborators in their research, through increased understanding of biodistribution, biomarker studies and beyond.
