Waters Corporation: A direct way to analyze Glyphosate & Co. in drinking water

Because water is a Human Right, high quality and safe drinking water is essential for our daily life.

Since January we addressed through our #BlueThursday webinar series different analytical challenges related to the analysis of specific compound that are regulated in the revised EU DWD like: HAA5, Oxyanions, PFAS and PM(T)s. In the fifth episode of the series we will focus on the highly polarizing pesticide glyphosate and its metabolite AMPA.

Episode 5 - A direct way to analyze Glyphosate & Co. in drinking water?

Monitoring highly polar, small organic pesticides such as glyphosate, AMPA and glufosinate in water presents an analytical challenge. FMOC-derivatization workaround is widely used and well established for the analysis since a long time. But is there a way to avoid the derivatization step?

Yes! a new Waters mixed-mode stationary phase, named Anionic Polar Pesticide Column, is capable to retain glyphosate as well as other highly polar pesticides

Join us on September 30th and discover the new method we have developed utilizing the Anionic Polar Pesticide Column for direct injection analysis of Glyphosate, AMPA and Glufosinate in low ng/L range. The results of the evaluation of the method in terms of linearity, repeatability, accuracy and RSD over different spike levels will be presented.

Presenter: Benjamin Wuyts, PhD (Senior Solution Support Specialist Europe, Waters Corporation)

Benjamin initially joined Waters as an application chemist working in the Belgian demo lab, performing liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry demonstrations, support and training. In 2016 Benjamin became a European application chemist focusing on projects to support emerging applications. Benjamin has been focused over several years in establishing the Waters solution to the analysis of polar anionic pesticides, utilising novel column phases and LC-MS/MS technologies.
