Technology Networks: Choosing the Best LC-MS Method To Characterize Your Protein

Over recent years, new fragmentation processes have been developed to help fully characterize protein biopharmaceutical drugs. These include several techniques often abbreviated to three letter acronyms such as ETD, CID, CAD and ECD(Note).

Recently, a new technique, Electron Activated Dissociation (EAD), has been added to this growing tool kit for analytical scientists. Similar to ETD and ECD, this technique offers scientists the ability to generate more information for post translational modifications easily, simply by choosing the method in the software.

(Note) ETD: Electron Transfer Dissociation; CID: Collision-Induced Dissociation; CAD: Collisionally-Activated Dissociation; ECD: Electron Capture Dissociation.

In this presentation you will:

  • Learn how each of these techniques have been used to help characterize proteins
  • Understand how EAD differs from ETD, CAD and ECD
  • Discover how EAD has been used in identifying difficult post translational modifications
  • Find out how each of these techniques works
