High Resolution Accurate Mass (HRAM) Spectrometry has allowed mass spectrometrists the capability to replace nominal mass measurements for accurate mass measurements. Incorporation of a collision cell in QTOF mass spectrometry further extends this capability with fragmentation, providing accurate mass detection of precursor ions as well as product ions with library matching for confident identification during a single analytical run. Combine that the ability to digitally store an entire sample data files for retrospective data analysis for new compounds not originally considered or sought out during the initial analysis. With all these capabilities, it is easy to see why HRAM is in position to effectively eliminate conventional quadrupole-based mass spectrometry and other conventional analytical methods, such as immunoassay. However, the conversation among laboratories regarding adoption, acquisition and implementation of HRAM to become successful and challenges that might be presented remain paramount.

Within this webinar join us for a conversation with two expert LCMS application scientists to discuss the adoption of HRAM into laboratories (forensic focused), challenges presented, expertise, training staff, tips and tricks and how to acquire more information on HRAM technology.

Presenter: Dr. Julie Cichelli (Agilent LC/MS applications Scientist, Agilent Technologies, Inc.)

Julie Cichelli obtained her Bachelor’s Degree from Villanova University in 2003 with a major in chemistry and a minor in mathematics. She went on to pursue graduate school at the University of Utah, studying under Dr. Zharov, completing her Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry in 2008. Following graduate school in 2009 she accepted a postdoctoral fellowship at the Huntsman Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City researching colon cancer under Dr. Stafforini and Dr. Topham. Subsequently, she joined the Agilent LC/MS applications team in 2010, with a focus in clinical and forensic applications.

Presenter: Pete Stone (Senior LC/MS Applications Scientist, Agilent Technologies, Inc.)

Dr. Peter JW Stone is a Senior LC/MS Applications Scientist at Agilent Technologies. He has 20+ years within HP/Agilent of experience working with many small molecule applications related to the Pharmaceutical, Environmental, Food Safety, Clinical and Forensic application areas among others. Currently, the challenges of analyzing for quality and safety with regards to cannabis products consume his time.
