Waters Corporation: Cyclic IMS in Action: Deep dive into Biomedical Research

In this final event of the series, join our Principal Applications Chemists, Susan Slade and Jonathan Fox in the laboratory to see how to run samples, experience the latest software for data acquisition and results obtained to deep dive into biomedical research and accelerate scientific discoveries.

Results will demonstrate how high TOF resolution and mobility resolution really lends itself well to shotgun metabolomics analysis and to discover new lipid conformations.

The session will conclude with a live Q&A where Jonathan Fox, Susan Slade and other members of the team will be on hand to answer all of your questions.

Presenter: Jonathan Fox (Principal Applications Chemist, Waters Corporation)

Jon Fox is a principal applications chemist in the European Applications Laboratory team based in Wilmslow, UK. Jon joined Waters in December 2000, following on from his degree in drug design and toxicology, With over 20 years mass spectrometry experience supporting customers in the field with training, developing and troubleshoot their applications, now currently developing strategy, solutions and demonstrations in the European applications lab . His areas of expertise in include ion mobility, high resolution MS for analysis of oligonucleotides, proteomics, DMPK, APGC Food & Environment and metabolomics.

Presenter: Susan Slade (Principal Applications Chemist, Waters Corporation)

Susan Slade is also a Principal Applications Chemist in the European Applications. Sue joined Waters in 2015, after working both in academia and industry including British Petroleum and Severn Trent Water. Sue’s background is microbiology, protein purification/characterization and she started using mass spectrometry to identify products from biotransformations using GC-MS. With the advent of softer ionization techniques, Sue concentrated on utilising mass spectrometry for the study of proteins and peptides (proteomics). Her degrees, a BSc. in Applied Biology and PhD. entitled “mass spectrometry-based profiling and differential proteomic studies of maternal plasma”, were achieved part-time whilst working full-time. Since working at Waters, Sue has focused on high resolution mass spectrometry and more recently developing strategy and solutions for SELECT SERIES Cyclic IMS exploiting novel cyclic ion mobility separations for a variety of application areas.
