Ultra-high performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC) is a powerful tool often used to significantly increase the efficiency of a chromatographic separation. UHPLC presents an opportunity to refine existing HPLC methods to establish higher efficiency, sharper resolution between peaks, and shorter run-times. Traditional HPLC methods may also be improved to attain UHPLC results, while working within instrument limitations.

In this webinar, join Zachary Woodward, technical specialist at Phenomenex, as he presents a framework to better navigate a variety of scaling parameters. Woodward will also discuss method scaling in the context of preserving selectivity and resolution during preparative purifications.

Key learning objectives

  • Understand the relationship between particle size and resolution
  • Find out how to optimize the internal diameter of a column for analytical or preparative methods
  • Learn how to optimize method parameters for improved sensitivity

Who should attend?

Analytical chemists working within the pharmaceutical industry, with a focus on method development and validation.

Presenter: Zachary Woodward (Technical Specialist, Phenomenex)

Zachary Woodward is a technical specialist with Phenomenex, assisting laboratories with method development in the biopharma, environmental, and food industry. Woodward spent his formative years developing HPLC and GC (gas chromatography) methods with AMRI Global in Albany, NY, after which he developed HPLC and SPE methods with Focus Diagnostics in Cypress, CA.

Presenter: Carrie Haslam (Associate Editor, SelectScience)

Dr. Carrie Haslam is an Associate Editor at SelectScience, playing a key role in content production and specializing in Materials Science, Alzheimer’s disease and Clinical Diagnostics.

Carrie completed a Ph.D. from The University of Plymouth, where she developed graphene-based biosensors for the early diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease.
