Session 1 (30 min): Profiling and Quantifying Organic Acids in Beverages

Organic acids can be naturally occurring or are added to beverages as acidulants, flavorings, and preservatives. The analysis of organic acids is a useful test to ensure the quality, authenticity, and composition of food and beverage products. Developing test methods for organic acids can be a challenging task given the difficulty of separating multiple, naturally occurring organic acids that can be present in samples.

In this talk you will learn how Waters separation technologies can provide greater retention and improved selectivity for this analysis, allowing for improved detection and reducing the method impact from co-eluting compounds from the sample matrix.

Session 2 (30 min): Developing Efficient Methodologies for Sugar Substitute Analysis

Sugar taxes and consumer demand for sugar-free versions of popular beverage brands have seen a continued increase in the development of diet and zero sugar products. Analyzing sugar substitutes and other ingredients in food and beverages is an important assay to ensure a product is within specification. The concentration and combination of different sweeteners in beverages are key to a product’s characteristic flavor and need to be consistent wherever the product is manufactured.

In this talk, we will explore how Waters separation technologies can support the development of efficient methodologies for the routine analysis of sugar substitutes such as natural and artificial sweeteners.
