Large-output food safety labs are under constant stress to deliver sensitive, rugged, and robust analysis while keeping up with an ever-changing landscape of regulatory detection levels and compounds of concern. Oftentimes, LC/MS methods are challenging, difficult, and time consuming to prepare, maintain, and execute.

Here we present the process of developing a pesticide mega-method workflow on the newly released "6475 triple quadrupole LC/MS" to simultaneously detect and quantify over 500 pesticides of concern in various food matrices.

In this talk we will go over the detection capability of the instrument system and configuration, leveraging of instrument intelligence to help develop the method and maintain instrument stability, and key instrument intelligence characteristics to assure peak instrument performance. The end result is a single pesticide analysis workflow spanning various classes of analytes, that can be adapted to various food matrices, in a reliable, rugged and routine manner.

Patrick is the full scope product manager of Agilent's triple quadrupole LC/MS systems portfolio, overseeing the development of hardware and software. He was formerly an R&D chemist in the Agilent quadrupole R&D group and has a background in ion chemistry, ion energetics, and structure elucidation.
