VWR: LC Method translations and transfers: Do's & Don'ts

Do you want to achieve the same chromatography in a shorter timeframe? Ever wondered why your method looks different on a different LC system even though you did everything exactly the same?

This webinar will introduce you to:

  • Isocratic and gradient method translations. This will include adjusting column dimensions (eg. scaling a method up or down) to increase productivity or move from analytical to prep
  • Moving between different instruments (eg. transferring a method between sites)
  • Modifying particle platforms (eg. between fully porous and solid-core silica particles)

We discuss both theory, and practical examples for successful translation and common reasons for failed method translations or transfers.

The use of a free Excel based tool for automatically performing the calculations is also highlighted.

Presenter: Gemma Lo

Gemma Lo is a Portfolio Manager at Avantor, based in the UK, looking after the self-manufactured chromatography portfolio which includes HPLC, UHPLC, GC and sample preparation products. Gemma has over a decade of experience working in the Hichrom technical support team, troubleshooting chromatography methods, recommending suitable column chemistries and supporting the vast range of HPLC & UHPLC columns. Additional experience in HPLC column manufacture and business development are used to support the portfolio.

Originally a Biochemist, focus areas include the analysis of biomolecules and polar analytes by various chromatographic techniques and works in close collaboration with the Avantor R&D and applications team.
