LabRulez: Selected Applications for Drugs of Abuse Analysis in Hair

The webinar will highlight benefits of automation for laboratories with high throughput of samples and laborious manual methods, as well as challenges faced during analysis, including LOQs and matrix factors.

Also discussed will be the method development of a large panel of drugs of abuse, focusing on steps taken to improve recoveries, signal, and RSDs.

The presentation is aimed at laboratories with manual methods looking to improve sample turnaround and reproducibility, and free up time for analysts to perform other important tasks. Laboratories aiming to reach the requested LOQs from the Society of Hair Testing (SOHT) through improvements in sample cleanup will find this presentation of value.

By attending this presentation you will learn about:
  • a streamlined and automated method for the extraction of drugs of abuse in hair
  • the benefits of automation and using the Biotage workflow
  • a method capable of reaching the required LOQs for hair analysis

Presenter: Thomas Smith (Applications Laboratory Team Leader, Biotage)

Thomas began his career at Biotage in July 2022 as Applications Laboratory Team Leader. Prior to this, he worked in a UKAS accredited hair analysis laboratory, beginning as a laboratory analyst and working up to R&D team leader. Thomas's main task was to develop a streamlined and automated method for extracting a large panel of drugs of abuse from hair to help laboratory process with a growing number of samples.
