Agilent Technologies: A Robust Method For the Sensitive Analysis of Non-Derivatized Polar Pesticides in Food by LC/MS/MS

Analysis of non-derivatized polar pesticides in food is a complex task due to their physicochemical properties. Their high polarity makes them incompatible with universal extraction techniques such as QuEChERS whilst limiting retention on classical reversed-phase chromatography columns. Additionally, loss of analyte due to adsorption by metals in the LC flow path can further compromise both chromatographic peak shape and analytical sensitivity.

In this presentation we describe a comprehensive verified LC/MS/MS workflow, from sample preparation to MS detection for the simultaneous quantitation of 11 underivatized polar pesticides in five matrices adhering to the to SANTE 11312/2021 guidelines.

What you will learn:

  1. Sample preparation according to the QuPPE method
  2. How to optimize, LOQ, linearity, recovery, and precision
  3. How to assess matrix effects
  4. Practical ‘Tips and Tricks’ to ensure effective implementation of this workflow in your lab

Presenter: Anna Cali (Agilent Technologies, Milan, Italy)

Anna Calì has nearly two decades of industry experience in developing methods for the analysis of pesticides, mycotoxins and contaminants using both liquid phase and gas phase mass spectrometry (LC/MS and GC/MS). Prior to joining Agilent Technologies as an LC/MS and GC/MS Application Engineer in 2011, she worked as an analytical chemist in both public and private laboratories as well as an Application Engineer in global mass spectrometry companies.
