Updating Old Methods, Is the Gain Worth the Pain?

Improving an existing method is an opportunity to save time, money and sample.
Whether you’re developing a new method or updating an older one, there are several questions to consider, including:
Is the goal to reduce analysis time and/or improve resolution?
Is the method isocratic or gradient?
What HPLC parameters will be key to success?
What are the column options and will they work with your instrumentation?
Modernizing a legacy method, whether it’s a reference method from the USP, AOAC, or EPA or an internal one, can simplify testing and improve accuracy, ruggedness, and sample throughput.
