Agilent Technologies: Multi-omics Sample Prep with Your Morning Comics

Technology improvements in liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (LC/MS) have enhanced the detection and identification of multiple omics compounds classes from complex biological samples.

As LC/MS omics measurements become increasingly valued, there is a growing need to automate the associated sample preparation workflows. Specifically, Agilent automation offers intuitive workflows that provide high data reproducibility and increased throughput while reducing hands-on time. Here, we describe key learnings revealed during automation of sample prep workflows for downstream LC/MS Omics analyses.

Learning Objectives:

  • Learn about new Agilent Bravo workflows for automating LC/MS omics sample prep.

  • Understand the essential steps in automated LC/MS Omics sample prep workflows.

  • Learn how automated LC/MS Omics sample prep fits into the end-to-end LC/MS Omics workflow.

Presenter: Kenda LJ Evans, PhD (Automation Product Specialist, Agilent Technologies, Inc.)

Kenda received her Ph.D. from The University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio in the field of pharmacology with a focus on the signal transduction pathway for the serotonin 1A (5-HT1A) receptor. Kenda’s post-doctoral work occurred at the University of Houston School of Pharmacy where she studied the effects of inverse agonists and antagonists on beta receptors in both respiratory and cardiovascular models. Kenda then joined Encysive Pharmaceuticals where she was the lead for the high-throughput-screening team as well as project manager for target drugs. Following this, Kenda joined PerkinElmer as a high throughput screening field application scientist. For more than 12 years, Kenda has been an automation product specialist and is currently the automation workflow specialist for Agilent where she is helping researchers find the right solution for their automation needs and applicated workflows.
