Presenter: Markus Stoeckli, Ph.D., (Novartis)

Markus, a leading figure in mass spectrometry, obtained his doctorate in 1996 from the University of Berne. From Vanderbilt University to his current role at the Novartis Institute for BioMedical Research, he's contributed significantly, pioneering MALDI q-TOF instrumentation, high-mass ion trap technology, and label-free molecular imaging. Beyond technical innovation, his skills in software development and user interaction design are notable. Markus's passionate advocacy for impactful technologies in biomedical research is evident through his founding membership in the mass spectrometric imaging society and active participation in grant reviews and academic committees. Always eager to explore new mass spec concepts, Markus remains a dynamic force in advancing the field.

Presenter: Reza Nemati, Ph.D., (Biogen)

Reza serves as a Principal Scientist at Biogen and a team lead within the Bioassay and High Throughput Screens (BHTS) group since January 2019. Over the past five years, he has played a pivotal role in establishing and expanding mass spectrometry-based assay and HTS capabilities to support Biogen's early-stage preclinical portfolio projects.

Before joining Biogen, Dr. Nemati worked at the RNA Institute at the University at Albany, NY. There, he primarily utilized mass spectrometry to study RNA structure and post-transcriptional modifications. He obtained his Ph.D. in biological sciences from the University of Connecticut (UConn) under the supervision of Dr. Xudong Yao.

Presenter: Jacob McCabe, Ph.D., (SCIEX)

Jacob McCabe, Ph.D. is a Senior Scientist at SCIEX at the Echo® MS Center of Excellence in Framingham, MA.

The lab is a dynamic and interactive scientific showroom containing new and cutting-edge innovations in mass spectrometry. Jacob and colleagues collaborate with researchers from around the globe to develop new approaches to high throughput quantitative mass spectrometry across a range of molecule types and analytical challenges. He holds a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from Baylor University, a Master of Science from Texas A&M University–Commerce, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Analytical Chemistry from Texas A&M University studying under Professor David H. Russell.
