New ways of targeted translational small molecules quantification

In this free webinar, Hector shares preliminary data and insights into the critical role of lipids in biochemical processes, energy utilization, immune response, and energy storage.

The primary focus is on the measurement and quantification of lipids in human plasma samples, aiming for a more accurate understanding of their biological mechanisms.

His teams research also explores the implications of lipids in cardiometabolic health and cardiorespiratory fitness, underlining the importance of lipid class and species specificity in health effects. They are particularly interested in the role of glycerol lipids as potential markers of health status and their influence on lipid metabolism.

Recent advancements in liquid chromatography mass spectrometry allows them to profile different lipid species in complex matrices like plasma and tissue. This has opened up new diagnostic possibilities for metabolic diseases such as type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and nonalcoholic fatty acid liver disease.
