Phenomenex: PFAS Analysis in Food, Vegetables and Other Matrices – Automation, Hints & Developments

Overview:

  • Automated clean-up using solid-phase extraction for per- and polyfluorinated alkyl substances (PFAS) (presented by Norina Aßhoff/CVUA-MEL).
  • PFAS method according to LOD / LOQ limits in Recommendation (EU) 2022/1431 on the monitoring of perfluoroalkyl substances in food.
  • In fruit, vegetables & baby food: limits for PFOS: 2 ng/kg, PFOA: 1 ng/kg, PFNA: 1 ng/kg, and PFHxS: 4 ng/kg.
  • Validated method for animal-based foods such as eggs, milk, meat and fish.
  • Suitability for PFAS analysis of food contact materials made of paper.
  • 2-SPE cartridge setup (Strata GCB 250mg + Strata-X-AW 100mg) vs. single/stacked cartridge Strata PFAS (250mg / 100mg).

Key Learning Points:

  • Automated sample preparation of PFAS in food, food contact materials and consumer goods.
  • Additional sample preparation and LC-MS/MS methods for water, soil, and blood/serum.
  • Blank value-reduced SPE materials and other specific laboratory accessories for PFAS analysis.
  • Optimization of LC-MS/MS analysis through modern columns and strategies for better retention of short-chain PFAS.

Who should attend?

The webinar is designed for all involved in PFAS analysis in the food, feed, environmental and clinical areas, to learn about automation and new ideas for more robust PFAS methods.

Presenter: Norina Aßhoff, CVUA-MEL

Presenter: Guido Rimmel, Account Manager, Phenomenex

Presenter: Georg Pfefferer, Account Manager, Phenomenex

Please note: the webinar on PFAS will not be recorded.
