Presenter: Landon Wiest, PhD (Product Manager - LCMS, Shimadzu Scientific Instruments)
Dr. Landon Wiest is the Product Manager for LCMS at Shimadzu Scientific Instruments, leading a team of scientists who focus on applications development customer care. He has extensive experience in method and product development, research project management, and customer applications, with a strong background in liquid chromatography. At Restek Corporation, Landon led technology development teams and advanced new particle technologies, while also publishing application notes and creating educational content for webinars and short courses.
He earned a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from Brigham Young University, where he developed patented diamond/carbon-based chromatographic particles. Recognized for his contributions to chromatography, Landon was nominated for the Csaba Horváth Award. Fluent in Danish and knowledgeable in German, Landon excels at communicating complex scientific concepts and is dedicated to advancing scientific knowledge.
Presenter: Ruth Marfil-Vega, PhD (Sr Market Manager – Environmental, Shimadzu Scientific Instruments)Dr. Ruth Marfil-Vega has 20 years of expertise in environmental chemistry and engineering in the US and Europe. She has worked with the EPA and the utilities industry to design and execute comprehensive solutions for addressing new environmental and water quality issues, including PFAS, regulated and unregulated DBPs, and other emerging contaminants. Since Ruth joined Shimadzu five years ago, she has continued to work with environmental stakeholders to ensure that analytical instrumentation and workflows support their success. She earned a BSc in Chemistry from the University of Valladolid (Spain) and a PhD in Environmental Science and Engineering from the University of Cincinnati.
