Why should we consider PEth as an alcohol biomarker of choice? - Forensics Webinar Week

Alcohol abuse is widespread in many countries around the world and in addition to health problems it can result in a significant loss of productivity at work . In recent years, a great deal of research has been carried out to determine reliable direct and indirect alcohol biomarkers. This presentation will discuss why Phosphatidyethanol (PEth) should be the biomarker of choice to monitor excessive alcohol consumption.

Björn Carlsson holds the position of Research Chemist at the Department of Clinical Pharmacology, Linköping University Hospital, Sweden. He has a PhD in Clinical Pharmacology in the area of drug enantioselective analysis. He currently works with supporting the clinicians at the hospital with mass spectrometry methods for therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) and biomarkers analysis. He is also a lecturer at the Biomedical Scientist program at Linköping University.
