Phenomenex: Detection of PFAS in Foods: Interlaboratory Comparison of Two Analytical Methods

Food matrices and a fish reference material were analyzed by the Nestle and FDA labs each implementing two different methods to test for accuracy and robustness.

Key Learning Points

  • Find the comparison of accuracy and reproducibility of two methods
  • Listen in to a discussion on challenges with difficult matrices
  • Learn about aspects of LC-MS/MS to consider in the detection and quantitation pf PFAs in food

Who Should Attend

Any scientists, researchers, and lab analysts conducting PFAS analysis, food safety advocates, food manufacturers and anyone interested in food safety.

Presenter: Susan Genualdi, PhD (Research Chemist, Food and Drug Administration (FDA))

Susan Genualdi is currently a Research Chemist in the Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition at the Food and Drug Administration.  Her research over the last 12 years has focused on developing methods for the analysis of direct and indirect food additives in food and food packaging and for the last 6 years has focused on PFAS analysis in foods. Prior to her work at the FDA, she received her PhD in Analytical Chemistry at Oregon State University and was a postdoctoral fellow at Environment Canada.
