Thermo Fisher Scientific: Detection of new EU chemical drinking water parameters
Thermo Fisher Scientific: Detection of new EU chemical drinking water parameters

The EU Drinking Water Directive (DWD) 2020/2184 introduces new classes of organic micropollutants, including Haloacetic Acids, PFAS, microcystin-LR, and bisphenol-A, and establishes new parametric limits for these substances. This presents a significant challenge for water testing laboratories to implement advanced analytical methods to comply with the updated directive requirements.

Join Dr Matteo Sottile from Publiacqua SpA, Italy, who will present the development and validation of a high-resolution, accurate-mass (HRAM) mass spectrometry coupled with both ion chromatography (IC) and liquid chromatography (LC) solution to detect these new parameters.

Dr Sottie will discuss the comprehensive evaluation undertaken to ensure the required method sensitivity, accuracy, and precision was achieved to comply with the directive incorporated into Italian law in 2023 through Decreto Legislativo n° 18.

Discover:

  • A new validated HRAM solution for the detection of new drinking water quality parameters
  • The use of IC-HRAM for the detection of Halo acetic acids and polar pesticides

Who Should Attend?

  • Laboratory managers and senior analysts involved in water testing and consulting services.
  • Scientists interested in enhanced detection and quantitation limits in water analysis.
  • Regulatory agencies focused on new testing methods for water contaminants.

Dr. Sottile will be available live after the presentation to take your questions. Take advantage of this opportunity to learn from an industry expert and stay ahead of regulatory challenges. Register now!

Presenter: Matteo Sottile (Laboratory technician, Publiacqua SpA)

Dr. Matteo Sottile received his degree in Industrial Chemistry in 2016 at the University of Pisa. He has worked in Publiacqua S.p.A since 2016 implementing, the optimizing and validating new analytical methods for the detection of organics micropollutants in drinking water. During this time, he worked as a specialized technician on Ion and HPLC chromatography systems coupled with mass spectrometry.
