Metrohm: Pushing the Limits: Best Practices for Ultra-trace Ion Chromatography

Pushing ion chromatography (IC) results down to the parts-per-billion (ppb) level and beyond is challenging but achievable. Interferences from matrix components, risks of contamination, and signal suppression are common obstacles that can compromise accuracy and sensitivity. To obtain reliable results, advanced techniques are needed to isolate and concentrate target ions while minimizing errors.

In this webinar, we’ll discuss best practices for trace-level analyses, including inline preconcentration strategies and methods to eliminate interfering portions of the sample matrix. These techniques enhance workflow efficiency, reduce sample preparation time, and minimize contamination risks. Real-world examples from laboratories in the nuclear energy and semiconductor manufacturing industries will highlight the successful application of these approaches.

Who should attend?

  • IC users interested in optimizing sub-ppm level ion analyses
  • Lab managers and directors looking to introduce trace level analysis capabilities into their lab
  • Researchers that need solutions for detecting trace ions in complex matrices

Key learning points

  • Understand the challenges of ultra-trace ion analyses using IC
  • Learn about techniques and best practices to achieve the lowest detection limits
  • Review the fundamentals of ion chromatography
