Presenter: Prof. Bart Ghesquière (Expert technologist, VIB - KU Leuven)

Bart Ghesquière is an expert technologist leading the VIB – KU Leuven Metabolomics Expertise Center since 2014. Trained as a biotechnologist at the University of Ghent, he worked on chromatographic technologies and mass spectrometry for studying protein modifications and N-glycosylation. He joined NIH in 2011 to quantify methionine oxidation in biological models, earning the Orloff Science award. In 2012, he applied his mass spectrometry expertise to angiogenesis research under Prof Peter Carmeliet.

Currently, he leads a team of 11 researchers, focusing on tracer metabolomics to profile metabolic disorders and develop technology. Bart Ghesquière is a Full Professor at KU Leuven and head of the Metabolomics Expertise Center at VIB.
