Waters Corporation: The Art of Separation: SEC for Biotherapeutic Proteins and Peptides

Characterizing size variants in biotherapeutic proteins and peptides, such as GLP-1 receptor agonists, monoclonal antibodies (mAbs), and bispecific antibodies, can be difficult, but it doesn’t have to be. Accurate measurement of size variants is essential for obtaining critical quality attribute (CQA) information. These variants can have a significant impact on the safety, efficacy, and stability of biotherapeutic drugs.

Join us for a discussion on how size-exclusion chromatography (SEC) can be used to obtain CQA data of proteins and peptides, and how to effectively pair SEC with multi-angle light scattering (SEC-MALS) and mass spectrometry (SEC-MS) for in-depth characterization. You’ll also gain insights into fit-for-purpose, SEC column technologies designed to simplify size variant analysis and deliver reproducible, high-quality results on any UPLC, UHPLC, or HPLC platform.

Key Learning Objectives

  • How to effectively use SEC for protein and peptide size variant analyses
  • How to select the appropriate SEC column based on application and LC system
  • Learn the benefits and differences between denaturing and non-denaturing SEC methods
  • How to leverage SEC-MALS and SEC-MS to gain deeper insights from your data

Presenter: Bill Warren (Principal Consultant Chemistry Product Manager, Waters Corporation)

Bill received his Masters in Microbiology and Immunology from University of Louisville School of Medicine. In 1986, joined Waters Corporation as a senior applications chemist involved with the research and development of HPLC, FPLC, and Capillary Electrophoresis applications for the analysis and purification of proteins, peptides, and nucleic acids. Bill currently is a Principal Consultant Product Manager whose responsibilities involve assisting in the development and commercialization of innovative reagents and chromatography-based technologies for the separation, purification, and characterization of biological molecules.
