Shimadzu: Endless Productivity: Seamless Automation for Clinical LC-MS/MS Workflows

Clinical laboratories face common challenges to remain efficient and reliable for their clients while conducting routine analytical work. Automation of some human components to laboratory workflows, including sample preparation, has become a primary solution in the clinical environment. This two-part webinar series will explore how Shimadzu's CLAM-2040 integrates with LC-MS/MS technology to standardize routine processes, reduce manual handling, and support reliable laboratory operations. Attendees will hear from two industry-leading experts on how the CLAM-2040 successfully automated procedures to mitigate common sources of variation, provide consistent sample preparation, and boost laboratory performance.

Who should attend:

  • Clinical Laboratory Directors, Managers, Scientists, Technicians, Researchers, as well as academic professors and students of clinical chemistry and biomarker research.

Learning Objectives:

  • Learn how automation can reduce manual handling and human-dependent steps in sample preparation
  • Understand how the CLAM-2040 improves consistency and reliability in routine analyses
  • Learn practical insights from industry experts on implementing automated procedures in clinical LC-MS/MS workflows

Presenter: Dr. Frank Streit (Head of Clinical Research, University Medical Center Göttingen (UNG))

Dr. Frank Streit's contributions to the world of clinical mass spectrometry have been felt for decades. Beginning with the development of routine assays, he has now successfully implemented complex workflows quantifying more than 300 compounds. Recently, Dr. Streit has been focused on building out automated workflows in his laboratory.

Presenter: Jeremy P. Smith, MS (Marketing Manager - Forensics and Clinical Research, Shimadzu Scientific Instruments)

Jeremy serves as the Market Manager of Clinical and Forensics at Shimadzu Scientific Instruments. He holds a bachelor's degree in biology, a master’s degree in clinical toxicology, and is pursuing a doctoral degree from Oklahoma State University. Much of his 18-year career has been spent developing clinical and toxicological assays on LC-MS/MS technology.

Presenter: Nazim Boutaghou, Ph.D. (Life Science Product Manager, Shimadzu Scientific Instruments)

Nazim Boutaghou received a Master’s degree in Chemistry and Biology from the University of Bordeaux. Nazim later joined Dr. Richard Coles’ group at Louisiana State University in New Orleans to advance his work in Mass Spectrometry. He is currently the product manager for the Life Sciences at Shimadzu Scientific Instruments.

Presenter: Milaan Thirukumaran, MSc. (Product Specialist - Life Science
Shimadzu Scientific Instruments)

Milaan is a product specialist for the Life Science product line at Shimadzu Scientific Instruments serving as a technical expert for the clinical laboratory automation module and MALDI products. He received his BSc. in Biochemistry and MSc. in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Waterloo in Canada under the supervision of Dr. Janusz Pawliszyn.
