Phenomenex: Fundamentals First Bio Series - Understanding Magnetic Bead-Based Extraction Techniques

This webinar provides a foundational overview of magnetic bead-based extraction technologies used in modern bioanalytical and biopharmaceutical workflows. We will explore the scientific principles behind paramagnetic bead technology, including bead composition, surface chemistry, and the role of functionalized ligands in enabling selective capture of a wide range of biomolecules.

The session will also cover common extraction workflows and how magnetic bead-based approaches compare to traditional sample preparation techniques in terms of scalability, selectivity, and reproducibility. Attendees will gain insight into how these workflows are applied across biologics research, with practical examples illustrating real-world use cases.

Key Learning Points

  • Learn the basic principles of magnetic bead-based extraction and paramagnetic bead function.
  • Find how bead composition, surface chemistry, and functional ligands enable selective analyte capture.
  • Identify key advantages of magnetic bead workflows compared to traditional extraction methods.
  • Understand common workflow designs and their role in supporting downstream LC and LC-MS analysis.

Who Should Attend

  • Any scientists and professionals working in biopharma, life sciences, or analytical laboratories interested in learning about biomolecular extraction techniques for mAbs, ADCs, nucleic acids, mRNA, and oligonucleotides.
